UGH.

I'm currently working through the finalization of my student loan application and it's beginning to really sink in how much debt I'm going to have for the next 10 years or so.

I guess my dream of having a little house of my own somewhere (and also a car and also lots and lots of bookshelves and also chocolate) is further away than I thought.

Alackaday.

I feel your pain. For now, I'm making do with a few bookshelves, and an occasional dark chocolate truffle. Do they have See's in Boston?

My dear, I had a conversation today with your older sibling about debt. They signed the final loan docs for the purchase of the new medical practice. With that, their house mortgage and student loans, their debt load is...well the number certainly was staggering to me. Ask her. Sometimes you just have to close your eyes, jump in, and trust that it will all work out somehow. Try to have faith and not to worry. Yeah, like I'm SO good at that myself!

Beth, could you please define "alackaday" for me?

It's a general expression of dismay, my dear bro. Not sure what its origins are though...

I hear ya on the massive school loan debt. Yikes! Someday we'll all come out of it, though, and we'll realize that the investment was totally worth it. (At least, this is what I keep telling myself...)
