Little discoveries

Today I realized that licking batter from electric beaters (after unplugging, necessarily) is still as sublime an experience as it was when I was 7.

And about 30 seconds ago I realized that eating the cooked results of said batter (sugar-free, whole wheat cookies with REAL chocolate chips) is pretty darn sublime too.

Edit: And also, there's nothing quite like burning one's tongue in the pursuit of deliciousness.

My children are all in their 20's and still go for the beaters!...just do please remember to unplug - I still have horror flashbacks of that 8th grade cooking class where Alese tried to wash the beater while it was still plugged in and mangled her thumb! (shudder) Wouldn't want to see that happen to your tongue!

Would you like to know what else is equally delightful?

Mixing the dough with your fingers rather than a beater!!!

(Assuming it is possible with whatever cookie dough you are working with)

Of course you'd have to wash your hands really well before attempting said mixing, but it is almost equally delightful licking one's fingers afterwards.

Yikes, Pat! No worries: I'll always unplug.

And oooh, EPG! I think I likes that idea. Maybe the next time I make this recipe...
