Oh. Sad.

I just found out that Madeleine L'Engle, one of my favorite authors, died on Thursday.

I'm so sad.

It makes me wonder which of the authors producing books right now (or who are just getting started with vainly submitting their first novels to publishing houses or agents) will come along to move into the shoes of the greats like the also recently departed Lloyd Alexander.

But whoever they are, they won't quite fill those shoes the same way.

At least we've still got the books to comfort us.

Is this someone with the PONTIAC version of the MDM tied into the HILERS???? Just wondering . . . you so have me stumped, only because there are a few words on these here blogs that my dear sister eliza____ M would never use . . . plus, you have no GREAT pictures of you on either blog! Really needing to better information. So, let me know if you are the Pontiac starter Sister in the MDM who helped share the gospel with the HILERS - - late night break the rules resolve concerns and the dress up in Sister Boyles CRAZY outfit after getting poured on in the rain!

By the way, the break the rules part, really it wasn't we always had permission from Samuelson or Pres. But, it did feel a little mischeivious! I have to say I know exactly who you are with all the book and author talk, my favorite companion who read every last Ensign dating back to the 70's that existed in that interesting little apartment!

By the way, since completing my masters and having a baby, my brain cells have decreased by a full 200% leaving my ability to spell and write HORRIBLY LACKING!!

I hadn't heard about Madeline L'Engle. The first fantasy novel I ever read was Wrinkle in Time. I still remember picking it up from under the Christmas tree when I was ten or eleven years old. It is probably one of the best gifts I've ever gottn. I've been (re)reading Robin McKinley this week and she is a fresh and exciting as ever.

Thanks for commenting on my blog, and I think I have been here before, I just can't remember where I linked from.

Oh, that's too bad! I heard that the famous opera singer Pavarotti also died this week - sad time for the arts!

Pavarotti's death really floored me. I guess I had mentally placed him in the same category as the Eiffel Tower and the Sistine Chapel - cultural icons you just expect to be with us forever.

I didn't say it made sense.

Lizardbreath - love you and miss you like crazy. And, hope that we can find a way to get you home for Thanksgiving, since I think we may be coming!

So sorry to hear about Ms. L'Engle and Pavarotti. Hope to hear more from YOU, though!
