Sometimes these odd phrases just kind of pop into my head while I'm doing something else, like plucking my eyebrows or something.
Like today: I was thinking about something else, and in came the phrase, "yon candied maid."
"Yon candied maid?" What the heck is that, anyway?
I'm thinking a mix of gingerbread houses and shepherdesses.
Or something.

Yon--as in yonder, or over there...
Candied--as in Candor or Candid, with both have to do with fairness/purity
Maid--single female
Don't you just love old english?
Perhaps it's something to do with a sugar-spun girl, thin and frail and entirely edible.
Or Jenni could be right.
But that is a rather odd phrase to have pop into your head...
Yon Candied Maid...I think I want to used that in a song or something. That's just cool!
Yeah. See, I was thinking 'candied' along the lines of candy, as in the sweet stuff, so I guess it would be a candy-ified maid? Something?
And that would make the craziest song EVER. :D
Like an m&m in human female form. YUM....
These things just pop into your head? That's why you're the writer, and not me. My head could never pop a phrase like that.
Or is it just the effect of finals stress, making your brain wig out these weird things?
Beth, at first this phrase just made me go "Hmmm", but the more I thought about it, the more it intrigued me...and after 2 nights labor, I have given birth to a poem. I'll post it tomorrow.
(P.S. you owe me two nights sleep!)
