And can I start shaking now?

I wrote this today in the early afternoon. I think it's pretty self-explanatory:

I just finished asking the third and final person for a letter of recommendation. Each request was relatively easy, painless, even pleasant.

And my hands just won't stop shaking.

But despite my shaking hands, I'm glad--more so than I've been in a long time--to be taking steps forward after standing so long in a bog.

The thing which has filled my entire heart and soul with trepidation and hesitation and doubt for well over two years has all been resolved in an afternoon. I feel both elated and ashamed.

Congratulations, Beth!

While I know you're hoping for Boston, I will pipe up again in favor of Chicago.

How is Marsha doing?

My toes are freezing and I am thinking that insulating our garage would be a good idea...I'm in the room next to it, and it is FRIGID. Of course, that is after several days in a row that it's been ten below at night, and I won't even mention wind chill.

Too good to pass up (the chance to whine a little, that is). Last Friday, when I was brilliant enough to go for a walk by myself, and ended up having the wind whip tears out of my eyes, and thinking "I've never been this cold in my life"? Well, I haven't. With wind chill, it was 12 below.

Wait! Time for sudden amnesia on the part of the reader! I WANTED Beth to come to Chicago!

Beth, is it too late to apply to someplace in Southern California? The weather's lovely here. :)

Oh wow, where all are you applying? I have to make my plug for the UK, of course. It will only take you 12 months, all the applications are free, and it costs less! Not that I'm pushing you or anything . . . :-)

Other advice: Get all the library experience you can--NOW. And during your program. Because you'll get the shaft if you graduate without any. I'm just saying.

Cathy & Kim, gals ol pals o'mine...

I'm so sorry. Neither Illinois nor California really worked out.

However, I am applying (at least in this current batch) to schools in MA, WA, DC, FL & MI. Sooo... Michigan isn't too far from Chicago. Relatively speaking. And Kim, Washington State isn't all THAT far from California. So...I guess we'll see.

And Nemesis, I would SO love to apply to schools in the UK! To study library science in the land of Austen and Dickens and Bronte? Now that is bliss. I'm going to go do some research into that right now. (I'm getting all dewy-eyed just thinking about it... (And Cathy--please no puns about the Dewey Decimal system. ;^)))
